  FALL EVENT 2002:

Untangling the World Wide Web

On Saturday, October 5, chapter members attended a half-day workshop at Cadmus Professional Communications in the BWI area to learn about writing and designing a Web site.

Presenters Joan Cranmer of Tempest Web Publications and Merry Bruns of ScienceSites Communications led lively discussions that touched on numerous topics, including HTML and Java scripting; choosing a host and registering your domain name; site security issues; writing for your audience; presenting information concisely; building credible, authoritative content; and much more. Enthusiastic participants kept the discussion rolling right through lunch. Look for a more detailed review of the event in the Winter Quill.

You can view the PowerPoint slides from Joan’s presentation on her Web site. From the home page, click "AMWA Presentation" in the navigation menu under "Tips and Hints."

Merry lists valuable information, resources, and forthcoming speaking engagements on her site. Be sure to check them out!
