the program awards a $500 scholarship to the top candidate and a

The award is open to undergraduates in their sophomore
or junior years who are enrolled in a college or university in Maryland, Washington,
DC, or Virginia. The student must be majoring in journalism, technical/scientific
writing, or the health sciences. Additional qualifications include
A GPA of 3.0 or higher
Demonstrated participation in activities that show versatility and commitment,
either within the family or in the greater community
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit
A completed application form
A 500-word essay about career plans or goals in medical or technical writing
Two letters of recommendation
A current official transcript
Faculty members and students who would like to
find out more about the program should e-mail the Scholarship Committee Chair and ask to be notified of the next application
cycle.
